FRANKLIN
Alonzo Wilson “Al” Read, 88, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was born May 18, 1927, in Brown County. He was the son of William E. Read and Margaret L. (Smith) Fleener.
He married Betty J. (Leonard) Read; and she preceded him in death April 4, 2005.
He is survived by two sons, Roger Allen Read of Whiteland and William “Bill” (Crystal) Read of Trafalgar; and a grandson, Dawson Read.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Louis Read.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Forces veteran, where he was a reconnaissance pilot for the 3rd Infantry Division.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Lewis Burton at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Story.
