Pair arrested on prostitution charges

Police arrested a woman and a man after an undercover prostitution investigation.

The woman, who was advertising her services on a website, ran from police twice before she was taken to the Johnson County jail, police said.

Kristy Short, 35, 2615 E. 11th St., Indianapolis, was arrested on a charge of prostitution, resisting law enforcement, false reporting and escape and on a warrant. Police also arrested Garth Holston, 37, 2655 Allen Ave., Indianapolis, who was in a car with Short. Holston was arrested on a warrant.

As part of an undercover investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy contacted Short. The two exchanged text messages to agree on a price and a place to meet in the Greenwood area. Once Short arrived, she took $380 and started to undress. Two deputies then arrested her, according to the police report.

Short then ran to a balcony and jumped over the railing and got into a car. The vehicle was driven by Holston, who attempted to drive out of the parking lot. Deputies stopped the car, and Holston and Short were arrested.

Holston was taken to the jail, and Short was taken to Community Hospital South because she complained of ankle pain. Short also initially gave officers a false name, the report said.

At the hospital, Short asked to use the restroom. When she went into the restroom, she ran again. A deputy caught her in the parking lot. Later, she was taken to the jail.

Both Holston and Short were being held at the jail without bond.
