Marvin Burchett

COLUMBUS

Marvin Jim Mitchell Burchett II, age 55, of Columbus, entered heaven’s gates unexpectedly and far too soon on Friday, June 26, 2015.

Born Jan. 20, 1960, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Mitchell Lee Burchett and Cinda Burchett of Rickman, Tennessee.

He spent the most recent three years of his life on Earth pursuing his dream of seeing the country as an over-the–road truck driver with USA Truck.

He is survived by his loving wife, best friend and soul mate of 37 years, Diane Burchett; two children, Chris (Victona) Burchett of Edinburgh and Stacey (Shelby) Brubaker of Columbus and five grandchildren, Tyler Burchett, Stacie Bassett, Ayden Brubaker, Brody Brubaker and Lyam Brubaker; and several brothers, sisters and extended family members.

Marvin was a man of few words but when he spoke, everyone listened. He will be remembered as an honest, caring, loving, and hardworking husband, father, grandfather and brother. His joys included coffee, music and movies of all kinds, NASCAR, sports and studying genealogy. His ultimate joy was spending time with his ferret at home on their farm with all their furry friends.

Cremation is planned through Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home with a private family memorial to be conducted at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the NICU at St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis in honor of all the future miracles that enter this world.

The family wishes to extend its gratitude to Marvin’s work family at USA Truck, to the medics, physicians, nurses and staff at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois, to the Stat Flight air transport team from St. Vincent, and to all the staff, physicians and nurses in the Neuro Trauma ICU at St. Vincent Indianapolis.
