Indian Creek pool faces summer repairs

The Indian Creek High School pool will undergo renovations this summer after it was drained during spring break.

Chunks of tiling were coming off in a 4-by-4-foot section of the pool this spring, Superintendent Timothy Edsell said. When the pool was drained to replace the loose tile, construction workers discovered more tiles were loose.

Now, the 7,080-square-foot pool will be re-tiled entirely, with a new layer of concrete and a waterproof layer poured as well as new tiles to line the pool.

The pool contractor will pay for any repairs to the pool floor, but the school district will pick up the bill for remaining tiles replaced on the walls, Edsell said. Although no estimate is set for the renovation costs, the school district will not pay more than $60,000, according to the contract.

The work is expected to be completed in August.
