Have a blast at patriotic concert

The Indiana Wind Symphony and Crossroads Brass Band of Central Indiana will perform this weekend at Johnson County Park for the Symphonic Council’s annual Fanfare and Fireworks event.

Friday evening, visitors can enjoy patriotic music and other songs from a variety of genres. The program will include a salute to veterans and fireworks.

At 6:30 p.m., The Crossroads Brass Band of Central Indiana will provide a varied program of music composed and arranged especially for British Brass Band.

At 8 p.m., the Indiana Wind Symphony will perform patriotic selections, as well as a salute to all veterans for their service, and will feature local euphonium player Jim Williams as soloist.

The Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the fireworks show, which will follow the concerts.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring folding chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.

Admission is $5.

In case of rain, the concert will be conducted in the Franklin Community Middle School, Vandivier Gym.
