Charles Kantz

Charles W. Kantz, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at his residence in Whiteland.

Charles was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Passaic, New Jersey, to William and Florence (Avery) Kantz.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He married Dolores McKinley on Sept 27, 1947, in Clifton, New Jersey; they were married for 67 years.

Charles retired as a journeyman from General Motors in Indianapolis.

He was a member of the United Auto Workers in Indianapolis, American Legion Post 252 and Whiteland VFW Post.

Charles enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family.

He attended Greenwood Presbyterian Church and Gracepoint Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Kantz of Whiteland; seven children, William Kantz of Martinsville, Thomas (Vanessa) Kantz of Southport, Patti (Dwight) Wilcoxin and Kevin (Tabatha) Kantz, both of Greenwood, Sally (James) Atkinson and Joan Kantz, both of Indianapolis, and Lisa (Bill) Wilbur of Whiteland; a sister, Mary (Jack) Hoogmod of Florida; a brother, John (Genevieve) Kantz of New Jersey; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dorothy Bresnak, Florence Bresnak and Cecelia Mucci; a brother, Bill Kantz; and a grandson, Jason Kantz.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at a later date.
