4 hurt in I-65 crash; lanes closed for hour

Four people were sent to the hospital after a crash between a dump truck and two cars on Interstate 65 in Greenwood.

A 2002 silver Chevrolet Malibu was southbound on I-65 near the Main Street exit when it hit a concrete barrier that was put up in a construction zone. After hitting the barrier, the car swung back into other southbound lanes, hitting a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu. A dump truck, driving behind the cars, could not avoid the accident and hit the vehicles, Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Rich Myers said.

The accident was reported at 12:25 p.m. Friday.

Four people involved had minor injuries and were taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis, Myers said.

All southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for about an hour during the cleanup, Myers said. The Main Street southbound exit ramp was closed by state police.

All lanes were reopened by 1:25 p.m. Friday, Myers said.
