Vehicle break-ins reported in Center Grove area subdivision

A watch, cash and bags were stolen from at least three vehicles in a Center Grove area neighborhood.

On Friday morning, residents called police to report their cars had been broken into overnight. The thefts happened in the Silver Springs neighborhood, located off Morgantown Road, south of County Line Road.

Police and neighbors found some of the missing items in other people’s yards, according to the reports from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The reports said:

  • A resident in the 900 block of Silver Valley Court reported at 7:47 a.m. that their vehicle window had been broken and a watch was stolen from inside.
  • In the 4600 block of Silver Springs Drive, a resident reported at 8:30 a.m. their car was unlocked and someone stole a purse, gym bag and loose change from inside. The purse was later found by a neighbor.
  • A resident in the 4500 block of Silver Hill Drive reported at 11:20 a.m. that someone had gotten into their unlocked car and took a backpack, with electronics including a laptop and camera, and cash. The backpack was found in a nearby yard with the electronics still inside.

Police are investigating.
