James D. Banks

NEW WHITELAND

James D. Banks, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in New Whiteland. He was a resident of New Whiteland.

James was born June 9, 1936, to Elmer and Lillian (Linton) Banks in Bedford, Kentucky.

He was an U.S. Army Veteran.

He married Lena Hotfil on June 16, 1971, in Milton, Kentucky.

James was employed with RCA/Thompson Consumers Electronics for 33 years in the maintenance department. He also worked at Como Plastics for five years, retiring in 1997.

James was a member of the Risen Lord Lutheran Church in Bargersville. He enjoyed doing puzzles, bowling, reading and anything to do with basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Banks, New Whiteland; four children Cindy Lou (Jeff) Yeich, Franklin, Carla Jean (David) Crouch, Alabama, Connie Ann (Randy) Bond-Stahl, Florida and Ralph H. (Cathy) Garvey, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Elijah Crouch, Issac Crouch, Jonah Crouch, Jaimie Crouch, and Leslie Crouch, C.J. Bond, Dallas Bond and Hanna Bond; and two great-grandchildren, Tristan Harris and Ashlynn Tryon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Banks; and two sisters, Marcalline DeBerger and Laura Stainbrook.

Rev. Mark Brown will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Risen Lord Lutheran Church, 3758 W. Whiteland Road, Bargersville. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Kentucky.
