Robert W. ‘Bob’ McKinney

Robert W. “Bob” McKinney, 84, passed away peacefully May 31, 2015. He was a longtime resident of Franklin.

He was born May 6, 1931, in Reform, Missouri, the son of Jewell and Ollie (Stone) McKinney.

Bob married Jackie (Dolen) McKinney on May 6, 1953. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. She preceded him in passing on July 3, 2005.

Bob is survived by their children, Amy McKinney McIntyre of Carmel, Doug and wife Cindy (Baker) McKinney of Franklin and Kristin McKinney of Indianapolis. Also surviving are grandchildren, Anderson and Ian McIntyre and Brett, Jeremy and Olivia McKinney. One sister survives, Dorothy Starnes of El Paso, Texas.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; his wife, Jackie; and siblings, Kathryn Baldwin, Myrtle Gianossa, William McKinney, Steven McKinney and Sara Ann “Sally” Davidson.

He was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, Missouri.

After graduation, Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a corporal and MP.

He was employed as a district manager for William T. Grant Stores for several years. He later was employed at Joanna Western Mills, retiring after 32 years of service. After retirement, Bob worked at Menards in Southport until 2013.

Bob was a fun-loving man. He enjoyed restoring cars and woodworking, making furniture for his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

The Rev. Shan Rutherford will conduct a celebration of Bob’s life at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
