Ivan Kent Charley

Ivan Kent Charley, 75, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Ivan M. and Virginia Sellers Charley.

He was a member of Greenwood Christian Church, where he was involved in several ministries of the church, such as maintenance, nursery, funeral dinners, grounds work, mission trips and serving communion.

He also volunteered for Special Olympics and was active in the Willow Lakes Homeowners Association. He was a private pilot and member of Wings of Greenwood and EPA.

He was a graduate of Tri-State (Trine) University, graduating in civil engineering, and was a member of American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a member of Sigma Mu Sigma fraternity, Tri State Alumni Association and IFMA for many years.

He started his career with Fink, Roberts and Petrie Engineers, working for 11 years. He was employed with Indianapolis Power and Light, where he retired in 2001 as director of property management. After his retirement he was employed with TLF Inc. Engineering Firm.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Charley; two sons, Greg (Kathy) Charley and Tom Charley; grandson, Christopher Daniel Charley; sister, Joni Koenig; and stepson, Sean Miller.

He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Scott Charley.

The service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Road. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church. He will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Friday at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan.
