Thank you for the article on homelessness (“Homelessness in Johnson County,” May 16). There is a lot of conventional wisdom regarding poverty and poor/homeless people. As Stephen J. Dubner and Steven D. Levitt demonstrated in their book, “Freakonomics,” conventional wisdom is usually wrong in all cases. The recent issue of Harvard Magazine has an article that addresses this issue from a more realistic perspective and should be considered as you do more research on this topic (“The Science of Scarcity” May-June 2015).
