Richard A. Hunter, 79, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015.

The son of Arwin and Earline Deasy Hunter, Richard was born May 22, 1936, in Portland, Tennessee. Richard was a member of the Church of Christ, Mooresville.

After 33 years, he retired from the Defense Financing and Accounting Service at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

Richard is survived by his wife, Glenda D. (Mayes) Hunter of Greenwood, whom he married on April 9, 1955; sons, Terry (Debra) Hunter of Martinsville and Brent (Carolyn) Hunter of Indianapolis; daughters, Claudia (Greg) Wininger of Tampa, Florida, and Sheila (Jeffrey) Crump of Greenwood; a sister, JoAnn (John) Meyer of Joliet, Illinois; grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Becca, Jeremy, Bradlee, Mandy, Joel, Jerod, Britney, Marissa, Noah and Lucas; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Shirrell, Edith Claiborne and Irene Parks.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
