Greenwood preschool accepting applications

A Greenwood-based preschool is accepting applications.

Greenwood United Methodist Church is enrolling the prekindergarten, 3s and 4s classes.

Scholarship available through Red Cross

High school and college students who host a summer blood drive could earn a scholarship.

The American Red Cross is hosting the scholarship through the Leaders Save Lives program.

Leaders Save Lives program encourages 16- to 24-year-olds to host blood drives to help maintain the blood supply over the summer months. Students who participate as a blood drive coordinator are eligible to win a scholarship up to $2,500 for higher education.

Registration is open to host a participating blood drive between June 1 and Aug. 31. Registration can be done at redcrossblood.org/leaderssavelives.

Roncalli students of the month named

Roncalli High School has named their students of the month for April.

They are:

Dustin Hughett, industrial technology; Ryan Craig, English; Jake Reel, business and technology; Casey Gore, math; Colin McManama, health and physical education; Abby Lewis, S.T.A.R.S. Program; Nick Barrett, world languages; Shelbie Webb, science; Natalie Pesto, guidance; Stephanie Davis, communication; Allison Heinrich, family and consumer science; Julia Kurz, social studies; Katie Lewis, fine arts and David Schrader, religious studies.

Scholarships awarded at school honors reception

Roncalli High School seniors earned scholarships at the school’s annual academic honors reception.

Recipients are:

Clark Family STARS Scholarship: Morgan Kincaid and Aleksey Oehrle.

Roncalli High School Leadership Scholarship: Kate Myers.

Jeffrey N. Perkins Memorial Scholarship: Annie Richardson.

Martin R. Eckstein Scholarship: Ali Fox and Htoo Thu

Katie Lynch – Live, Laugh, Love Memorial Scholarship: Annie Wagner and Cat Yanis

Anna’s Celebration of Life Scholarship: Emry Himes and Dylan Holok.

Jennifer McKinney Memorial Scholarship: Kristen Henke.

Emily Winters Lipps Young Women’s Scholarship: Shayla Cabalan.

Wong Family Scholarship: Logan Smith.

High school garners 1st at math competition

Students at Roncalli High School won a math competition.

The group won first place at the Catholic Math League national competition.

The students whose scores contributed to the first-place finish were Timmy Miller, Michael Otley, Chad Ransburg, Kai Sun, Matthew Woodruff and Kelly Zhang. Kai Sun also received a trophy for finishing in first place in division one. He placed second overall nationally.

Sertoma Club names scholarship winners

Sertoma Club of Greenwood named its annual scholarship recipients.

Students receiving scholarships are:

Julie Simon, Center Grove High School: Dr Robert L Hamill Memorial Scholarship.

Kelsey McCartt, Perry Meridian High School, Doris Dong, Southport High School, Abbey Pratt, Center Grove High School, Abigail Belton, Center Grove High School and Micah Carlson, Greenwood Community High School: Sertoma Club of Greenwood Memorial Scholarship.

Center Grove names students of the month

Center Grove Middle School North has named their April students of the month.

They are:

Sixth grade: Mary Wilson, Aidan Welch, Dylan Eads and Carlynn Berners, Austin Booker

Seventh grade: Amanda Reising, Trent Fischer, Addison Weinberg, Nathan Smith, Dylan Godsave.

Eighth grade: Alexis Sichting, Zach Sheley, Faith Schuessler, Jacob Keith and Stephanie Koch.
