Mayvline (Stephens) Smith, 87, of Franklin, formerly of Edinburgh passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Franklin United Methodist Community.

She was born July 14, 1927, in Russell County, Kentucky, to Jona and Riffie (Wilson) Stephens. She married the Reverend O.E. Smith on Aug. 21, 1943, in Russell County, Kentucky, and was blessed with 67 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 20, 2011.

She was a homemaker as ministered alongside her late husband Rev. O.E. Smith with the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee, serving in Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan and Indiana. She remained steadfast in her faith and could identify with the Apostle Paul saying, “I have kept the faith, I have fought the good fight and there is a crown laid up for me at his appearing.”

Survivors include her children, the Rev. Clifton Smith (Bonnie) of Anderson, Louie L. Smith (Debbie) of South Carolina, Milton Smith (Bonita) of Columbus, Kenny Smith of Noblesville; daughter, Brenda McKee (Danny) of Franklin; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Johnny Stephens of Shelbyville and Roland Stephens of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant daughter, Eva Mae Smith on Nov. 21, 1943; a grandson, Jason Smith; two brothers, Buster Stephens and Ed Lee Stevens; and four sisters, Vernie Bennett, Mary Gadsberry, Faye Stephens and Maurice Stephens.

The Rev. Jerome Baker will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
