Doris E. Slevin

Doris E. Slevin, 92, of Nineveh, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015.

She was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Shelby County to the late John M. and Estel D. Fallis.

Doris graduated from Edinburgh High School in May 1940.

She married her prince charming, Samuel Robert Slevin Sr., on May 18, 1940, in her parents’ home.

From there they had seven children, Virginia (Ron) Wick of Greenwood, Garrett (Sally) Slevin of Illinois, Samuel (Marie) Slevin of Indianapolis, John (Son Ok) Slevin of Shelbyville, Jerry (Debi) Slevin of Whiteland and Stephen Slevin of Prince’s Lakes; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Ellen Slevin; two granddaughters, Danielle Dawn Slevin and Elizabeth Ann Slevin; a great-granddaughter, Michelle Flodder; three brothers; and seven sisters.

Doris loved to cook. She also loved being outside, and every year she had a large garden from which she canned and froze for the winter months.

She also loved to walk, walking up to three or four miles a day.

She would make beautiful Barbie and Ken clothes for all her granddaughters.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at American Legion Post 205, 1200 Park Ave., Franklin. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the post. Burial will be Wednesday at Marion National Cemetery in Marion.
