Bikers rev up for children’s hospital

A motorcycle charity ride that will benefit patients at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital will take off Saturday from Cycle Outfitters on the southside.

Riders for Striders will raise funds to purchase Strider Bikes for the kids getting treatment at the hospital. The hospital uses the bikes for recreation and physical therapy.

Last year, organizers raised enough to purchase 45 bikes for the hospital and hope this year to be able to purchase more, according to a statement.

Riders can choose one of two routes, an adventure route, which includes both on- and off-road riding; and a street route, which is all on roads. The ride is mostly back roads, and very little highway is used.

The ride will start at Cycle Outfitters, 5501 Madison Ave., Indianapolis.

The first group of motorcycles will leave at 9:30 a.m., taking scenic back roads to RevSport! in Bloomington for a donation lunch. After lunch the ride will go north and finish the ride at Taxman Brewing Co. in Bargersville. Moody’s Butcher shop in the Center Grove area has donated meat for the ride lunch.
