Bashie Lee Burton was surrounded by family when her spirit left this world to be reunited with God and the ones that she loved that preceded her.

Bashie Lee Burton, 87, of Edinburgh, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at Reid Hospital and Health Services of Richmond.

She was born July 12, 1927, in Ewing, Virginia. She was the daughter of Marshall and Victoria Ayers. She married Dennis Burton on May 14, 1974, and he preceded her on July 9, 2001.

She is survived by daughters, Vena (Joe) Pearson of Taylorsville, Wilma (Alvin) Roark of Ewing, Virginia, Jan (Daniel) Martin of Edinburgh and Betty (Jack) Bailey of Indianapolis; stepsons, Ronald D. (Joyce) Burton of Shelbyville and Edward (Jill) Burton of Lakeland, Florida; a brother, Paul Ayers of Ewing, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Hubert “Hubie” Ayers; brothers, James, Tommy and Franklin Ayers, and sisters Mary, Rosie and Sara Ayers and Ebbie Carter.

She was a member of Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh.

She had worked for Amos-Hill Veneer in Edinburgh and the Edinburgh High School cafeteria.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and attending church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Lewis Burton at Who-So-Ever-Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
