Squabble at dealership ends in man’s arrest

A man was arrested after a fight at a car dealership off U.S. 31, south of Franklin.

Brandon L. Skaggs, 20, of Taylorsville, was arrested on a charge of battery and leaving the scene of an accident.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Don’s Auto Sales, 1195 U.S. 31 South, just after 1 p.m. Thursday for a fight.

A woman and her boyfriend had gone to the car dealership to either get her title or money back for a car she recently purchased. The lot owner told them to leave, and the boyfriend, Skaggs, scuffled with an employee of the dealership, according to the police report.

Skaggs got into his vehicle to leave and bumped a woman who was in the lot, knocking her down, the report said. The woman was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be checked.

Skaggs left and was later stopped by police. He told police he did not bump the woman with his car, the report said.

Skaggs, 9267 Tecumseh St., was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $500 bond.
