Center Grove to discuss district’s long-range plans

Residents will get a chance to weigh in on the future of Center Grove schools.

The school district is hosting a community forum at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss the long-range facilities plan. Residents also can give feedback on what they think Center Grove schools will need in the future.

Center Grove already is spending $42 million on projects at multiple buildings. The work includes renovation of classrooms in Center Grove Elementary School, North Grove Elementary School and Center Grove High School. Center Grove also opened a new technology center and a new employee preschool and child care center. The next projects include renovating Pleasant Grove Elementary and the former maintenance building into a STEM Lab.

School officials said long-range planning is necessary to prepare for those types of projects in the future and not need to significantly increase the tax rate, according to a news release from the school district.

The public meeting next week, which will be in the high school auditorium, will include information on future facility needs, such as the soonest a new elementary school could be built.
