St. Francis CEO promoted

Franciscan Alliance health system has promoted the longtime CEO of Franciscan St. Francis Health to oversee its entire outpatient care services.

Robert J. Brody has been named the new senior vice president and chief operating officer for the system’s ambulatory services, covering 13 hospitals and numerous facilities throughout Indiana and Illinois.

Brody had been the president and CEO of Franciscan St. Francis Health since 1996. He helped direct a $300 million expansion and renovation, including the consolidation of the Beech Grove facility in Indianapolis in 2012.

His leadership also aided in the construction of a new heart center and expanded cancer and women services.

Filling his role as president and CEO will be Dr. James Callaghan, who will oversee Franciscan facilities in Indianapolis, as well as in Mooresville and Carmel.

For the past seven years, Callaghan has served as the president of Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City. He helped launch a series of initiatives designed to bring health care more in line with the community.

Examples include overseeing the construction of a new cancer treatment center in Michigan City. He also led the building of a free-standing emergency department, diagnostic center and physician office complex in nearby Chesterton.

Both Brody and Callaghan will start their new jobs on July 1.
