Mark Allen Brown, 56, passed away unexpectedly at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at his residence in Greenwood.

He was born in Marion on Dec. 29, 1958, to Robert Norman Brown “Tom” and Helen L. (Winterrowd) Brown. He grew up on County Road 300E in Hartford City.

Mark graduated from Blackford High School in 1977. He was well-known for playing basketball and baseball in school.

He attended Columbus (Georgia) State University for one year.

He formerly owned and operated Marickie Global Transportation in Indianapolis. He sold the company to Buchanan Hauling of Fort Wayne several years ago. He was well-respected in the trucking industry for his knowledge and integrity.

He grew up attending Eaton (Indiana) Church of God. He was a member of the Hartford City AMVETS and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 741 in Columbus.

Mark will be sadly missed by his mother, Helen L. Brown of Hartford City; companion of 11 years, Penny S. Byrd of Greenwood; a son, Dathan M. (Frances B.) Brown of Greenwood; a grandson, Lucas M. Brown; and a sister, Marcia E. (Stephen J.) Blakenship of Georgetown, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Michael Norman Brown.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eaton Church of God, 700 E. Harris St. in Eaton, with CH (CPT) Bryan T. Wright officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, and from noon until service time Friday at the church. Mark will be cremated.
