Thelma Margaret Zaring

GREENWOOD

Thelma Margaret Zaring, 91, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Franklin to the late Otto and Maggie Smith.

She is survived by her sons, Stacey (Nancy) Zaring and Kevin (Diane) Zaring; grandchildren, Kelley Leach, Matthew (Carrie) Zaring and Lesley (Travis) Berkey; and great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Jessie Leach, William and Lili Zaring, and Gracie and Evan Berkey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Zaring Jr.; and her sister, Marie Calvert.

Thelma worked hard on her family farm, raising more than 5,000 laying hens and selling the eggs at their family business. She also was a head cook for the Bay Window for 11 years.

She was a member of Mount Auburn United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Glenns Valley, Greenwood.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mount Auburn United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association in Thelma’s memory, in care of the funeral home.
