5 hurt in collision on U.S. 31 in Franklin

Five people were injured in a collision at a Franklin intersection.

Just after 2 p.m. Sunday, Jack Albertson, 25, of Franklin, was driving south on U.S. 31 and went into the median to turn left at Simon Road. A sport utility vehicle driven by Joshua Mitchell, 23, of Greenwood, hit Albertson’s car when he was making the turn, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.

Albertson told police that a truck was blocking his view of oncoming traffic, according to the report.

Both Albertson and Mitchell were injured. Albertson had a bruise to his leg or foot. Mitchell had a fractured or dislocated hip, according to the accident report.

Three passengers in Mitchell’s car, Farran Lear, 23, Greenwood, a 2-year-old and an infant, also were injured, the report said.
