Residents reported someone was shooting at a bird on a phone line, and the line was damaged.
Residents living near County Road 200W and State Road 144, just east of Bargersville, reported seeing someone shoot a gun at a bird on a telephone line on Tuesday, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
A CenturyLink phone line was damaged. The next day, a customer reported problems with phone lines, and workers found new damage to the line, the report said.
The resident told police he had not fired a gun at the phone lines. No one was arrested, and CenturyLink requested the report not be sent to the prosecutor for criminal charges to be considered with the hope that whoever was shooting the gun had learned a lesson, the report said.
