Raymond Massengill

FRANKLIN

Raymond Massengill, 79, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on Jan. 25, 1936, in Bloomington, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Massengill.

He married Joan (Mobley) Massengill on Dec. 23, 1955. She survives.

Other survivors include children, Raymond E. Massengill Jr., Sharon K. Massengill White, Jennifer Salama and Thomas (Michelle) Massengill. Also surviving are grandchildren, Amanda Smitson, Chrissy (R.J.) Jackson, Mariah Massengill, Alexander White, Chelsea (Shawn) Cooper, Gabriella Salama, Shaylyn Massengill, Jacob (Lindsey) Massengill, Jeanne Hicks, Dylan Jordan and Tiffani Jordan; seven great-grandchildren, Kameron, Aaliyah, Kayden, Konner, Landon, Owen and Olson; and one brother, Robert M. (Jan) Massengill.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; sister, Gloria; and brother, Lloyd.

Ray attended school in Ellettsville. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Saratoga.

He was a tool and die maker and machinist. He was employed by Chrysler and Diamond Chain and later retired as a health care administrator.

Ray was of Christian faith. He loved to swim, and enjoyed reading and writing. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.

The Rev. Andrea Smith will conduct a celebration of Ray’s life at 2 p.m. Thursday at Duncan Community Church, 4100 Yellowwood Road, Nashville. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service time Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery with military honors being conducted.
