Fire destroys barn, closes state highway

A barn fire early Monday forced firefighters to close State Road 135 for about two hours.

Crews had to use a hydrant across the highway from the barn, at 3257 N. State Road 135, meaning the highway had to be closed to traffic from 1 to 3 a.m. Monday, Bargersville Fire Chief Jason Ramey said.

The barn, a tractor parked inside and a semitrailer next to the barn were destroyed.  No one was injured. The barn is owned by Bruce Morris. The farm is north of downtown Bargersville.

Firefighters from Franklin, Trafalgar, Whiteland, New Whiteland and White River Township helped Bargersville fire crews.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The Bargersville Fire Department is investigating.
