Joseph Marshall Harrod

Joseph Marshall Harrod, 86, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at Homeview Health and Rehab in Franklin. He was a resident of Bargersville.

He was born April 22, 1928, in Indianapolis to Harry Hollis and Hilda (Surface) Harrod. He married Leona Violet Hart on Sept. 3, 1954. She lovingly survives.

Other survivors include his cousin, Alice Jean Ballard of Fishers. He was preceded in passing by his parents.

Joe was a graduate of Center Grove High School, class of 1946.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Joe was employed by Bargersville Utilities for 36 years. He was the superintendent for 30 of those years.

He was a member of Bargersville Christian Church, Union Village Masonic Lodge, Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, NRA and NMLRA. Joe was also an avid outdoorsman. He was an original volunteer firefighter for Bargersville.

Rev. Ken Rickett will conduct a celebration of Joe’s life at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Union Village Masonic Lodge on Tuesday. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery.
