Lillian F. (Lane) Gates, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015.
She was born Oct. 22, 1950, in Detroit. She retired from AT&T after 30 years of service. After her retirement, she enjoyed working at Macy’s at Greenwood Park Mall.
She was an avid shopper, enjoyed traveling and her cats, and adored her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Laughner and her husband, Chad; her fiance, Wayne Sharp, and his children, Matthias Sharp, Amanda McGrannahan and Jason Sharp; her and Wayne’s grandchildren, Tyler Casse, Madilyn and Lily Laughner, Cole Gordon, Bree and Gage McGrannahan, and Darius and Kaylee Sue Sharp; great-grandson, Carter; and siblings, Hugh, Tim, Bob, David and Larry Grounds, Jerry Hulman, Josephine Behrman and Julia Burton.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Hubert Grounds; and her father, Julius Lane.
The celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery and Mausoleum Park in Greenwood.
