Woman arrested after struggling with police

An Amity area woman was arrested after police said she attempted to break out the window of a police car and kicked and spit on officers.

Peyton Taylor Pritchard, 18, was arrested Friday on charges of possession of a legend drug, minor consumption, disorderly conduct, residential entry, resisting law enforcement, battery, intimidation and battery by bodily waste.

Franklin police were called to a home in Countryview mobile home park, 1199 Hospital Road. When police arrived, Pritchard appeared to have been drinking and had poor balance, Franklin Police Lt. Kerry Atwood said. Police also found a bottle of prescription medication in her purse that was not prescribed to her.

The woman refused to take a blood alcohol test and fought with police as they attempted to put her into a police car, Atwood said. While in the car, Pritchard tried to kick the window out; and when an officer opened the door to tell her to stop, she kicked the officer in the stomach, he said. Police called a jail van and put a spit mask on her, but she spit at officers through the mask, hitting one of the deputies, he said.

Pritchard, 4234 E. County Road 350S, was taken to the Johnson County jail, where she was being held on $11,900 bond.
