Albert “Art” Arthur Barr Sr., 76, of Greenwood, passed away March 17, 2015.

The son of Ernest Clell Sr. and Helen Watson Barr, Albert was born May 21, 1938, in Indianapolis.

He was a radiator repairman for 60 years with Indianapolis Radiator Works, having purchased the business in 1977.

Albert was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and Beech Grove Masonic Lodge 694. For 20 years, he was a volunteer firefighter with the White River Township Fire Department; for 13 years was a reserve deputy sheriff with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and for six years was a deputy town marshal in Bargersville.

On Oct. 16, 1954, he married Lois L. Groomer.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Greenwood; a son, Albert (Kathryn) Barr Jr. of Indianapolis; four daughters, Connie Gibson and Annette (Richard) Thompson, both of Indianapolis, and Arlene (Donald) Perry and Dana (Kenneth) Cowell, both of Mooresville; two brothers, Ernest C. (Patricia) Barr Jr. of Prince’s Lakes and Steven (Deeva) Barr Sr. of Indianapolis; a sister, Marci Carlin of New Hampshire; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Albert was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill, Donald, Robert, Charles and Jimmy Barr; and a sister, Patricia Rush.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
