Michael Joseph Mattingly

ORLANDO, FLORIDA

Michael Joseph “Mike” Mattingly, a prominent construction project manager, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in the comfort of his own home in Orlando, Florida. He was 61.

Born on Oct. 16, 1953, in Franklin, Mike was one of six children of Ralph and Barbara (Overby) Mattingly. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology.

Mike worked in the construction industry for more than 40 years and most recently was employed with Universal Orlando Creative as an estimator/scheduler.

He also held an active general contractor’s license in the state of Florida and was part owner of MJM Management and Services LLC with his son, Jarred Mattingly.

Mike loved all sports, but his passion was golf and basketball. For years, he coached basketball at the local YMCA for both his children’s teams and coached teams for SOYSA Hoopsters, 3-on-3 tournaments and AAU basketball.

Mike was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Debra (Brunnemer) Mattingly of Orlando, Florida; son, Jarred Mattingly of Orlando, Florida; daughter, April Mattingly of Tampa, Florida; mother, Barbara Jean Mattingly of Indianapolis; brothers, Douglas Mattingly of Irving, Texas, and Timothy (Pam) Mattingly of Greenwood; sisters, Deborah (Duane) Butler of Jonesville and Brenda (Gary) Rooney of Indianapolis; and a host of niece and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Mattingly; and a brother, Mark Mattingly.

Msgr. Mark A. Svarczkopf will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
