Stella F. Rose


Stella F. Rose, 97, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, encircled by her loving grandchildren. Stella spent her last four years surrounded by good friends and a wonderful and caring staff at Homeview Health and Rehab Center in Franklin.

She was born on March 24, 1917, in Sellersburg to Lawrence E. and Gertrude Mae (Leathers) Rose.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Pamela (Bob) Hutchinson of Wisconsin and Rhonda Stagner of Greenwood; six great-grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Williams, Jacob (Kim) Heiney, Mallory and Shane Burton, Jensen and Derek Grimmer; one great-great-granddaughter, Ava Heiney; and son-in-law, William Stagner.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; two sisters; and her loving and only daughter, Judith May Stagner.

Stella was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.

She was employed by Real Silk Hosiery Mills in Indianapolis as a supervisor for 40 years, retiring in 1982. She also was a hosiery model for Real Silk’s catalog and made parachutes during World War II.

She was a member of Franklin Memorial Christian Church.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. today at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. A graveside service will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis.
