INDIANAPOLIS
Lola M. Toms, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Greenwood Health and Living Community.
Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Hauck) Lawrence.
Lola was a 1940 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School. She married Charles A. Toms Sr. in 1951.
She worked as a postal clerk for 15 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and Mars View Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Charles (Sharon) Toms Jr., William (Theresa) Toms, Gary (Debbie) Toms, Douglas Toms and Paul (Jenny) Toms; a daughter, Talta (Joe) Williams; 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mack Winters; a daughter, Patti Staggs; two brothers, Dennis Wolfe and Charles Lawrence.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
