Kerri Anne Piper, 39, of Franklin, died at 2:04 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Piper was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on March 20, 1975.

She married John R. Piper III on Nov. 11, 2009.

Survivors include her husband, John Piper of Franklin; children, Nichole (Joe) Pelts of Louisville, Kentucky, Ciara Wright of Crothersville, and Krystal (Clint Lawyer) Chadd, Killian Piper, Connor Piper and Keegan Piper, all of Franklin; a sister, Heather (Matt) Boknecht of Seymour; and a granddaughter, Kaiden Pelts.

Kerri was a sergeant first class in the Indiana Army National Guard. She served the country and state for 13 years as a logistician and was a combat veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (2004-2005) in Afghanistan.

Kerri worked diligently and received her bachelor’s degree with honors from the American Military University in 2012.

She enjoyed, quilting, gardening, cooking, riding motorcycles, her cats, her dogs and flowers. However, her favorite enjoyment was her family and taking care of them.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St., Columbus, with Pastor Eric Ebb officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Dobbs Cemetery in Brown County with full military honors.
