Prayer breakfast slated in Greenwood

The leader of a Christian business organization will speak at a breakfast next week.

Current president of Christian Business Men’s Connection International Lee Truax will be the keynote speaker this year at the 25th annual mayor’s prayer breakfast in Greenwood.

Truax previously worked in the IT industry but has worked for the Christian Business Men’s Connection International organization for more than 20 years. Truax first got involved with the organization in the 1990’s when his father was a member in the New England chapter.

“We really encourage our keynote speakers to talk about their personal journey,” said Bruce Richardson, leader of the annual prayer breakfast.

The event will be at 8 a.m. March 7 at Jonathan Byrd’s Cafeteria in Greenwood. Cost is $15 per person.

To celebrate the silver anniversary of the event, a member of the Christian Business Men’s Connection will play piano during the breakfast, Richardson said. Having live music is something the event has never had before, he said.

The committee also extended invitations to local schools, fire and police officials to pray over their industry and community, Richardson said.
