Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center, 1402 Southern Ave., Beech Grove, will host the program “A Pilgrim’s Journey to the Resurrection” today.

The program on the Lenten season is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include portions on personal and group reflection, and practices for observing the season. The presenter will be Sister Julie Sewell.

The fee is $40 with lunch included.

Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 E. Southport Road, will host a Lenten breakfast at 7:30 a.m. March 7.

All are welcome to attend free of charge. Freewill offerings will be accepted to support the church’s ministries.

Christ Our Shepherd Church, 857 N State Road 135, Greenwood, will host a veterans welcome-home program on March 8.

The dinner and program are free for all military, reservists, veterans and their family members.

Dinner begins at 5 p.m., with the program starting at 6 p.m.

The speaker will be Judd Green, Bargersville police chief. He is an Indianapolis native and Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Green served in the Indianapolis Police Department for 32 years.

In 2009, he deployed to Iraq with a Marine Corps infantry battalion. His battalion returned from deployment in 2010. After returning from Iraq he joined the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. In 2012 he was appointed chief of police in Bargersville.

He and his wife live in Johnson County and are members of GracePoint Church in Whiteland.
