Evelyn L. Welty, 99, Avon, passed away peacefully to join loved ones in heaven on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015.
Evelyn was born to Oscar Guy and Emma Gertrude (Marley) York on May 18, 1915, in Hall. Evelyn was a 1933 Monrovia High School graduate. Evelyn married Delmas A. Welty on March 9, 1935.
She was always a farm wife, homemaker and active in her church and community. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Hall. She was also a member of the Homemaker’s Club in Morgan County. She lived nearly all of her life in Hall.
Evelyn is survived by a son, Richard L. (Marlene) Welty of Needham; a daughter, Marianne (Robert) Berlin of Avon; four grandchildren, Sara Robards, Keith Welty, Aaron Berlin and Thomas Berlin; four stepgrandchildren, Lori Bowman, Greg Robards, Gary Robards and Beth Tharpe; and 22 great-grandchildren.Â
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Guy and Emma Gertrude York; husband, Delmas A. Welty; a brother, Joe York; and two grandsons, David and Todd Welty.
Family and friends may gather from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday and from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor David Neese will officiate the 2 p.m. celebration of life service on Sunday at the funeral home. Evelyn will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
