Frederick A. “Ted” Server

FRANKLIN

Frederick A. “Ted” Server, the youngest of the Madison-Server clan, was reunited with mother Martha, father Roy H. and siblings Donald, John R., Jane and Robert on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. He was a resident of Franklin.

Ted was a devoted husband of Mary Ellen (Bauer); loving father to Ted (Janice Turner), Jill (Dave) Dilk and Jo (Ken) Hartkorn; proud grandfather, known as “Poppi” to Trey and Leslie Server, Allie and Katie Dilk, Libby, Andrew and Megan Hartkorn; and great-granddaughter, Alaina Joann.

Ted was a 1950 graduate of Madison High School in Madison, where he was a member of the state basketball champion “Cubs” and an Indiana All-Star. Following graduation from Purdue University in 1954, he served in the U.S. Navy.

After a highly successful high school and college athletic career, he had basketball and baseball coaching stays in North Vernon and Franklin. He served as the athletics director at Franklin Community High School until his retirement in 1994.

Ted was very active in the community and was extremely proud of his involvement on the Franklin Park and Recreation Board.

The Rev. Andy Kinsey will conduct a celebration of Ted’s life at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Adams Drive, in Franklin with calling from 11 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the church.

Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is handling arrangements.
