Pansy I. “Pat” (Mayo) Land Freund, 88, passed away on Monday morning, Feb. 16, 2015, at the Manor Care Indy South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Trafalgar.
Pat was born April 17, 1926, in Hamilton County, to the late James Marion and Alta Mae (Gregeory) Mayo.
She married George E. Land on Nov. 26, 1947, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1975, after 27 loving years.
Pat was a 1944 graduate of Union Township High School in Johnson County. She was employed as a secretary with the Indiana State Police from 1945 to 1951. After raising her family, Pat worked as a medical records clerk from 1970 to 1991 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Pat loved camping, square dancing and doing crafts.
Pat was a member of the Morgantown First Christian Church, where she was a past Sunday school superintendent and served on several other church committees. She was also a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority; Johnson County Hospital Guild and the Nineveh Senior Center.
Pat is survived by two daughters, Donna (Crist) Johnson of Franklin and Rita (Gary) Ellis of Indianapolis, one son, David Alan Land of Trafalgar; five grandchildren, Michael (Brandy) Reed, Brian (Brittany) Reed, Cliff (Mackenzie) Ellis, Mark (Michelle) Ellis and Trent Ellis; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Kenneth Mayo; and sisters, Florence Hyde, Rose Dunn and Violet Warner.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery, Morgantown.
