Local newspaper files now available online

Archives of a historic Franklin newspaper are now available online.

The Indiana State Library recently finished digitizing editions of the Franklin Evening Star from 1912 to 1963. All editions are available for free at Newspapers.com.

The archive includes more than 75,000 pages of historic issues. Stories include world events seen through the eyes of Franklin residents, as well as articles on local history, such as the three-time state basketball champions  known as the “Wonder Five.”

The papers are fully searchable. Viewers can clip and save articles after signing up for a free Newspapers.com account. Visit pageafterpage.org or inspire.net/ to browse the collection.

This collection is among many resources provided free to Indiana residents through the Indiana State Library’s INSPIRE website. For more information, contact the Indiana State Library at 232-3675 or visit inspire.net.
