Childbirth education class slated at hospital

Great Expectations, a free quarterly childbirth education program, is planned for Feb. 21 at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

From 8:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m, visitors can attend educational presentations and learn about health resources and nutrition, get goody bags, tour the maternity center, enter to win door prizes and more. Expectant mothers are welcome to invite a guest.

Diabetes education class to begin in March

Johnson Memorial Hospital will provide a diabetes education class March 17, June 16 and Sept. 15.

Classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the hospital, 1125 W. Jefferson St., Franklin. Classes are open to the public.

Patients newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes or those who may want a refresher on self-care, caregivers and guests are welcome to attend. The class is taught by educators including a dietitian and a nurse. Topics covered include nutrition and meal planning, physical activity, monitoring blood sugar, medication and foot care.
