Addiction symposium scheduled

The sixth annual Ann Daugherty Symposium for addiction science is set for June 1 and 2 at Franklin College.

This event offers information to educate and improve communication between health care and addiction treatment providers.

The keynote address will be provided by state Sen. Patricia Miller, R-Indianapolis, chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Health and Provider Services.

Series will help kids deal with loss

St. Francis Hospice offers Caterpillar Kids, a free support program for children ages 5 to 12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Led by a staff trained in bereavement support for children, kids participate in storytelling, art projects, games and other sharing opportunities. Parents are invited to participate in a concurrent session.

The spring series will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays on April 8, 15, 22 and 29 at Christ United Methodist Church, 8540 U.S. 31 South, Indianapolis.
