FRANKLIN

Virginia E. “Jenny” Forbes, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Paoli.

She was born March 16, 1927, in Clinton, Iowa, to John and Virginia (Mercer) Miller. She was a 1945 graduate of Clinton High School.

She married the Rev. Powell Forbes on Feb. 12, 1956, in Clinton. She then joined her husband in his ministry at First Baptist Church in Paoli until his death April 5, 1993.

She worked for Mintworth Auto Parts as the bookkeeper for 27 years, retiring in 2005 when she moved to the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachel E. (John) Kaufman of Evansville; her son, Dan (Patty) Forbes of Whiteland; grandchildren, John Christian (Rebeka) Kaufman of Newburgh, Amanda (Chris) Deaton of Indianapolis and Joey Forbes of Whiteland; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Gracie and Kortnie Kaufman, and Blake and Kennedy Deaton; two sisters, Ruth Goodell of Clinton, Iowa, and Jackie (John) Malone of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Lucille Suter; and a nephew, David Suter.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Kresge Chapel at Indiana Masonic Home, 690 S. State St., Franklin, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dillman Scott Funeral Home, 226 W. Campbell St., Paoli. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 116 S. First St., Paoli, with Brothers Pat Fahey and James Walters officiating. Burial will be at Paoli Community Cemetery.
