Company will serve adults with disabilities

Therapy and day care services will still be provided for about 47 disabled adults in Franklin after a business left Johnson County.

Indiana MENTOR, a company that provides housing and in-home therapy for disabled adults, will take over what Hillcroft Services used to provide in the county. Hillcroft closed its doors in Franklin on Dec. 31. Indiana MENTOR will move from its space on Graham Road to 1400 Commerce Parkway to continue providing an adult day care.

Clients of Indiana MENTOR will learn life skills, such as cooking or washing and folding laundry, as well as academic skills like reading or counting money.

Hillcroft Services used to have an adult day care at that location but lost about half of its clients last year when one company decided not to renew their contract. As a result, Hillcroft moved out of Johnson County, said Hillcroft CEO Debbie Bennett.

Hillcroft’s Franklin branch opened its doors in 2008. Now, all clients will be taken care of by Indiana MENTOR.

Indiana MENTOR will lease one-third of the building that Hillcroft left at 1400 Commerce Parkway. The rest of the space will be leased to another business.
