Police: Bottle bomb destroys mailboxes

At least two mailboxes were destroyed in the Trafalgar area from a plastic bottle bomb, police said.

A man reported at 7 a.m. Saturday that he head a loud boom around 1:30 a.m and saw a glow outside his window in the 4000 block of W. County Road 525S. The destroyed mailbox was found about 15 feet from the post, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Another man reported at 3 p.m. Saturday that he heard a loud bang between 10 and 11:30 p.m. Friday at his home in the 5500 block of S. County Road 200W. The man thought the noise came from Camp Atterbury. His mailbox was blown into three pieces.

Police are investigating.
