FRANKLIN
Rachel (Hines) Howard, 92, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Greenwood.
She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Jackson County to James F. and Alice (Helt) Hines. She married William G. Howard on Aug. 30, 1942, in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death on April 3, 2010.
She was the business manager for Greenwood Village South for more than 20 years. She was a 73-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past matron of Greenwood Chapter No. 390.
Survivors include her three children, William J. Howard (Donna Morgan) of Clearwater, Florida, Jane M. Sherrill (Mike) of Greenwood and Joann R. Howard of Beech Grove; five grandchildren, Anne E. Howard of Chicago, Thomas W. Howard of Cambridge, England, Daniel H. Ewing of Lexington, Kentucky, Korin E. Felix of South Riding, Virginia, and Brian M. Sherrill of Greenwood; and 10 great-grandchildren, Simon and Fiona Wood, Lily Howard, Jessica, Megan, Adam and Natalie Ewing, and Morgan, Mia and Connor Felix.
Korin E. Felix and the Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Sunday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary, where the Greenwood Order of the Eastern Star No. 390 will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Reddington Cemetery in Reddington.
