Primary contests emerge as filing period near ends

Two more Republicans have joined contested races for city council seats in Greenwood and Franklin.

Today is the final day to file for city and town elected positions for the May primary.

Incumbent Brent Corey is the fifth Republican candidate seeking three at-large seats on the Greenwood City Council.

Republican Andrew “Drew” Eggers also joined the District 3 race in Franklin, along with candidates John Wales and Ted Murphy, who filed earlier.

Two Democrats have filed for Greenwood council seats, which will lead to contests in the fall. Drew M. Sager will run for the District 1 seat, while Ranjanpreet Kaur Nagra is seeking an at-large seat.

Three Republicans also filed for town positions, including Jeff O. Eisenmenger, Trafalgar Town Council at-large; Lori M. McCall, Prince’s Lakes Town Council at-large; and James W. Klenner, Whiteland Town Council Ward 2.

Filing closes at noon today.
