Marcia M. Sweet

Marcia M. Sweet, 95, of the Jollity Community, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at the Franklin United Methodist Community.

She was born July 5, 1919, in Shelby County to the late Charles W. Henderson and Bertha (Smith) Henderson. She married Morris D. “Mickey” Sweet on Feb. 7, 1944; and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1982.

Survivors include a son, the Rev. Marvin (Kim) Sweet of North Vernon; two daughters, Melody (Rick) Kissling of Westfield and Margie (Steve) DeWell of Indianapolis; two sisters, Ruth Newkirk of Trafalgar and Sue Brown of Kokomo; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Martin Sweet.

She was a lifelong member of Jollity United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer for 20 years. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed harness racing, crafts, sewing and family gatherings at Christmas.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St. in Edinburgh, with the Revs. John Eley and James E. Hoppus Sr. officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.
