Committe to drop up list of towing services

When an accident happens and a vehicle needs to be towed, emergency workers want to know exactly whom to call.

That task has been assigned to a new committee that will oversee the county’s dispatching services, after emergency dispatchers from across the county were combined into one center.

All of the police departments have a list of companies that can tow the cars. But since the county has consolidated its dispatching services, there are still five lists.

To make it easier on the dispatchers, the new operations board overseeing the dispatch center will put together a master list. A few police departments use a rotating list of companies that can haul bigger vehicles like tractors and semitrailers and ones that just haul smaller vehicles, and that is what officials want all dispatchers to use, so no local company is left out of the rotation.
